Economic Control

The Control Unit of this department is in charge of controlling licenses issued based on economic ordinances, such as:

  • “Vestigingsregeling voor bedrijven- PB 1943 no. 46”;
  • “Vergunninglandsverordening Ab 1963 no.28”;
  • “Eilandsverordening Openbarestraathandel Ab 1995 no 11”
  • “Landsverordening Winkelsluiting PB 1969 no.58”
  • “Prijzenverordening 1961 PB 1961, 117”

Economic Control Department Market Officers: Two Market Officers oversee the operation of the Tourist Market in Philipsburg, as well as the Fish Market in Simpsonbay. Control on among others:
1. Business/directors/ branch licenses
2. Operational Licenses
3. Vending Licenses
4. All other Licenses issued based on Economic Regulations &

Policies 5. Price Control on specific items & Price indication on all items
6. Bread prices
7. Gasoline Prices
8. prices of hurricane items
9. propane gas prices
